RUMORS swirl about the future of Fox’s TERMINATOR series and THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY to be reinvented!
With Monday night ratings for TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNER CHRONICLES dipping to under SIX million viewers, rumors are starting to swirl that Fox could pull the plug on the show sooner than later. Personally I would be bummed if this happens, as the show is very good, and one of my favorites. I think the networks need to reevaluate their expectations as the days of every show they air pulling in over ten million viewers are over. With TNT, FX, LIFETIME and A&E getting into the game airing first run programming, there’s so much choice on television that huge mass audience programs like CSI and Grey’s
Anatomy are getting to be few and far between. It’s growing increasing frustrating for viewers to get involved in quality programming and then see the show go bye-bye because viewership is not deemed appropriate by the network heads! I’ve certainly had my share of disappointments with the cancellations of OCTOBER ROAD and SIX DEGREES last season.
According to Variety, NBC has picked up the right to a PARTRIDGE FAMILY re-imagining from Jeff Rake, the writer/producer of Bones and Boston Legal. The original which is still popular in re-runs made names out of David Cassidy and Danny Bonaduce. Rake’s is quoted as say that he “plans to turn the premise on its head”. This version will have moms pushing their kids into performing instead of the other way around. This might actually be a good idea. Let’s just hope they leave HAPPY DAYS alone!
