Weekend BOXOFFICE!
Disney’s highly promoted kid’s fare, BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA, took a bite out of the box-office over the weekend as the critic-proof film scored with a solid 29 mill in ticket-sales. Last week’s champ, EAGLE EYE, held up pretty well grabbing another 17.7 mill to give it a ten day total of 54.6. NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST, geared directly at the teen crowd grossed an okay 12 mill, although Sony was expecting a bit more.
Other
box-office items of interest: the Ed Harris directed western, APPALOOSA, in which he also starred, pulled in 5.5 mill on 1045 screens. David Zucker’s anti-left-wing spoof comedy, AN AMERICAN CAROL, grossed 3.8 on 1619 screens and Bill Maher’s RELIGULOUS did a
better than expected 3.5 mill on just 502 screens. FLASH OF GENIOUS and BLINDNESS both bombed and finished out of the top ten! HERE’S a LOOK at the TOP TEN
