Never Met a Zombi I Didn’t Like…

TWILIGHT to be blockbuster, 30 Days of Night gets sequelized and Fox gives Dollhouse a Friday night timeslot!

twilightFandango is reporting very strong early advance sellouts for the November 21 release of TWILIGHT. The film, based on a best-selling novel by Stephanie Meyers about a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire, seems like it’s shaping up to be a major blockbuster. While I’ve noticed a sizeable backlash from the fanboy crowd on the net; that won’t stop the legions of females who will give this film a mammoth opening weekend. With the first press screening scheduled for tonight, expect fan reaction to start spreading like wildfire on the net in the next 24 30daysofnight_bigteaserposthours. I really like the film’s female lead actress, Kristen Stewart (In the Land of Women, Into the Wild). She has that special something going on besides good looks. I really think she has the potential to be a dominant force in movies over the next ten years.

I was really happy to read that a sequel to this year’s horror film, 30 Days of Night, has officially been greenlighted. I thought 30 Days of Night was a terrific movie and one of the best the genre’s seen in the last few years. It was a really cool vampire film that benefited greatly from its atmospheric dollhousesetting of Alaska. The original writing staff will pen the follow-up.

Fox has announced that Joss Whedon’s (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) new show, DOLLHOUSE, will get the dreaded Friday night timeslot when it premieres February 13 at 9 pm. The program, which is being described as a cross between Charlie’s Angels and The reikoMatrix, stars the very appealing Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling). Fox is also moving its ratings challenged series, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, to Friday were it will be Dollhouse’s lead in. While I don’t know what the future will hold for The Sarah Conner Chronicles, I do know that, creatively, the show is a winner!

Reiko Aylesworth, who played the character of Agent Michelle Dessler on Fox’s 24, has signed on to do at least four episodes of this season’s LOST on ABC. Aylesworth also appeared on a handful of ER episodes last season, playing the hospital’s chaplain. Her character on Lost is described as a smart and successful professional woman who loves the outdoors.
