Never Met a Zombi I Didn’t Like…

Noah Wyle returns as DR CARTER on ER – a must see for FANS of the show

noah-wyleNoah Wyle’s return to County General after a 3 year absence was quite a treat for fans of the long running series, now in its 15th and final season. It’s clear after watching the episode titled “The Beginning of the End” that his return is anything but an extended cameo. Producers have come up with a stellar storyline for Dr. John Carter’s character, and the episode’s closing moments was quite the stunner. This was the first of 5 episodes he will be appearing in. In case you missed it, you can watch it HERE.

FUNNY PEOPLE TRAILER

Universal has released its trailer to Judd Apatow’s (Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin) newest film Funny People, a comedy drama about a famous comedian who has a near death experience. The movie stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann. This looks really good and is due to hit theaters July 31, 2009.

The WATCHMEN hype

watchmen-5With Watchmen reaching the boiling point on most movie blog sites, I must admit I still don’t get it. I haven’t read the graphic novel the film is based on so I can only base my opinion on what I see from the trailers and TV spots the studio has put out. Now, at this very late stage of the game, it’s clear Warner Bros has done a very uninspired job of marketing this Zach Snyder directed film. Either that or their hands are tied because the movie is just a completely visual experience and they can’t for the life of them flesh out any character development or true story arc to attract the non fan-boy crowd. So what’s the point of spending millions and millions of dollars marketing the film to the very people who will see it no matter what! It’s apparent they do not have an angle for the people who have never heard of Watchmen.

For those claiming that Watchmen will rival The Dark Knight’s box-office… you’re nuts! Not a chance. Watchmen is rated R and way too inside. I doubt I’m wrong. The average moviegoer is not big on slow motion photography with a stylist’s look. There’s also nothing in the trailers that gets my adrenaline flowing. When Warner Bros first released the trailer to The Dark Knight, people in theaters went WOW. I simply don’t hear much reaction when the Watchmen trailer comes on. I really don’t.

It just feels like a totally inside thing, and that’s quite a risk for the studio who has sunk so much money into the film and advertising. Past history has proven that the internet movie crowd can get it wrong – Snakes On A Plane and Zack and Miri Make A Porno is proof of that. While comparing Watchman to these two films is not totally fair, it’s an example of how the internet cheerleaders can be dead wrong. While I think Watchmen will open well ($35-$50 million), I would be very surprised if it’s a through the roof blockbuster simply because I don’t see the mass audience for this material. Remember, not all superhero related films are hits. Go to Box-Office Mojo and type in “The Spirit” for proof of that. While I’m not rooting against Watchmen (I’d really like it to be good), I’m just not blinded or in the bag to be so naïve to the reality of what I’m witnessing.
