To me, Year One looks dreadful. Simply awful, bad. But the studio's confidence in Hangover has me interested in it. When I first heard of the film almost a year back, I thought there was no way that the film would be much of a success, but Cooper is gaining in notoriety and this is the film to possibly break him out. As for My Life In Ruins, I admit to never seeing MBFGW, just didnt have an interest, regardless of hoopla. Ruins has a similar sort of thought process for me, so I passed on an early free screening of it last week.

We are fortunate to have a big screen HD TV with a good sound system so my criteria is two things - Is this big screen worthy and is it worth the money to see it at the theatre. Land of the Lost, The Hangover, Year One, The Proposal, My Sister's Keeper and My Life in Ruins all fall into the "I would rather watch them from the comfort of my own home territory". Eddie Murphy hasn't done anything I'm interested in watching since Beverly Hills Cop so Imagine That will be imagining whether I even attempt to watch it on HBO a year from now. If they are done well, I love re-makes of past classics using modern film-making technology and updated characters. Although the The Taking of Pelham 123 doesn't look all that visually exciting, I will go to the theatre for the suspence and action sequences. Besides, Denzel Washington and John Travolta never disappoint. Denzel's performances are always riveting and nobody does crazy better than Travolta.

As for Transformers, while I'm quite certain the sound effects will shatter my eardrums and am not a big fan of either Shia Labeouf or Megan Fox, if it's worth seeing at all, it does need the big screen... so maybe. I thought the first one was pretty uninvolving - just mindless cartoon violence
