Never Met a Zombi I Didn’t Like…

The Poseidon Adventure back on the big screen in NYC for one night only

If you’re fortunate to be in the NYC area on April 8 the Clearview Cinema (23rd street between 7th and 8th Ave) will be playing the 1972 Irwin Allen disaster classic, The Poseidon Adventure (my all-time favorite movie), on the big screen as part of the ongoing Clearview Classic series. There will be two showings, one at 7:00 pm and one at 9:30 pm.

What always makes these showings fun is that many in attendance are die hard fans and love to share their great fondness for their favorite film. The Clearview classic series has presented many terrific older films, among them: Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future, Grease, The Godfather, Earthquake, West Side Story. On April 1 they are showing the 1963 comedy classic It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. I must admit I simply love theaters that revive classic films, letting people revisit them in a theatre setting. The Clearview is a quality multiplex theater with big screens and a great sound system. I know I’ll be there April 8!   View Trailer

The Poseidon Adventure (1972)

As the luxury liner Poseidon charts its course on New Year’s Eve, disaster strikes when an undersea earthquake causes a titanic tidal wave and capsizes the vessel, leaving just 10 survivors. Led by a no-nonsensereverend (Gene Hackman), the group must maneuver through airshafts, electrical cables and a burning engine room to the boat’s hull, which is their lone chance for escape. One of the first in the big cast disaster flick genre. Academy Award® for best song and a Special Achievement Award for Visual Effects.

Directed by: Ronald Neame
Genre: Adventure
Running Time: 117 min.
Rated: PG
BUY TICKETS: Thursday, April 8th at 7:00pm & 9:30pm

IRON MAN 2 Trailer

The Trailer to one of this summer’s most anticipated movies premiered during the Jimmy Kimmel show on Sunday Night right after the long-winded Oscar telecast. This trailer to Marvel’s Iron Man 2 features a good look at War Machine (Don Cheadle), Mickey Rourke as the film’s villain, Whiplash, and Scarlett Johansson, who plays Russian super spy Natasha Romanoff (aka the Black Widow). Robert Downey Jr. returns once again as Tony Stark / Iron Man and looks incredibly comfortable in the role. While the trailer has much to admire I don’t get the same type adrenaline shot as I did when I first saw the trailer for The Dark Knight. Take a LOOK
