After watching the election coverage and closely following the political scene over the last few months leading up to these midterm elections I can’t help but think that there is a real possibility that we as a country could get a Greg Stillson type character in the White House sooner than later. While I try and keep to open mind politically (I’m registered as an independent) I find many on the right, specifically the one’s who are considered part of the ever growing tea party movement, more than a little scary.
It’s hard for me not to be bewildered by the likes of Rand Paul, KY Senator (who advocated segregation in private enterprise), Christine O’Donnell (whose candidacy and concession speech were beyond laughable), Minnesota congresswomen Michelle (god are those eyes scary) Bachman and Sarah Palin, who I can’t help but think of as the fictional character Greg Stillson (played wonderfully by Martin Sheen), a power hungry, mentally unbalanced, politician in the best of all Stephen King’s novel to movie adoptions, The Dead Zone. The clip below speaks for itself. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
